Before Your Appointment
Referral and Records
Most patients are referred to our office by their general dentist. If your dentist has sent a referral, we will already have your records and any relevant imaging on file. If you are self-referring, please bring any recent dental X-rays or records you have available — this helps Dr. Cherry evaluate your situation more efficiently.
Insurance and Payment
Please bring your dental insurance card and a valid photo ID. Our team will verify your benefits before your appointment whenever possible. We accept most major dental insurance plans and offer flexible payment options for treatments not fully covered by insurance.
Medical History
You will be asked to complete a brief medical history form. Please list all current medications (including supplements), any allergies, and relevant medical conditions. This information is essential for planning safe, effective treatment.
What to Expect at Your First Visit
Your initial appointment typically lasts 45 to 60 minutes and includes:
- Comprehensive periodontal evaluation — Dr. Cherry will examine your gums, teeth, and supporting bone structure, including periodontal probing measurements
- Diagnostic imaging — Digital X-rays or a CBCT scan may be taken to assess bone levels and identify areas of concern
- Discussion of findings — Dr. Cherry will explain his findings in clear, straightforward terms and answer all of your questions
- Personalized treatment plan — If treatment is recommended, you will receive a detailed plan including options, timeline, and costs
Our goal at this first visit is to give you a complete picture of your periodontal health and ensure you feel confident about your next steps.
Communication with Your Dentist
We work closely with your referring dentist throughout your care. After your evaluation, we send a detailed report of our findings and recommendations to your general dentist so that your care is fully coordinated. Your overall dental health is a team effort, and we are committed to seamless communication between all of your providers.
